In June 2025, CIFCA Secretary General, Salum Lupande had an opportunity to visit Germany as part of the Vice President's Office (VPO) of The United Republic of Tanzania’ delegate that participated in SB 62 organized by the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNCCC) Secretariat. The sessions were held from 16th - 26th June, 2025 in Bonn, Germany as a continuation of the Tanzanian delegate that participate in COP29 in Azerbaijan and the current convention was a preparation for COP30 that was to be held in Brazil in November 2025.
CIFCA representation in these environmental related events is aimed at exploring how Islamic Finance can play its role in financing sustainability agenda.
Key Output:
- The outputs of this mission reinforce CIFCA’s mandate in policy leadership, advisory, and capacity building. The findings support a need for development of governance frameworks aligned with global best practices and Shariah standards in climate financing.
- SG secured an appointment with Luxembourg Stock Exchange, to visit and explore listing of sukuk in this international stock exchange platform, with the objective to replicate lessons in Tanzania where Islamic Capital Market is emerging.
- A tour to the Cologne Central Mosque demonstrated how Islamic institutions can operate as integrated socio-economic ecosystems, combining worship, commerce, and social services in a financially sustainable manner.
